How Durable Are Quartz Worktops Over 10 to 20 Years?

Understand what affects long-term durability, how to care for your chosen quartz surface and what to check before ordering.

Can quartz worktops last 10 to 20 years?

Think of a worktop as a long-term part of the kitchen, but avoid treating a fixed number of years as a guarantee. The exact surface, how it is supported and fitted, the way it is used and the care it receives all matter. A warranty describes particular cover and conditions; it does not establish how every installation will look at a given age.

When comparing surfaces, ask for the care guide and warranty for the exact product. Keep the brand, colour, invoice and installation details with your kitchen records so that future questions can be answered accurately.

Daily durability has limits

Quartz surfaces are designed for everyday kitchen use, but they still need protection. Caesarstone’s care guidance recommends a cutting board and a trivet or heat pad, and warns about harsh chemicals, sudden temperature changes and excessive force. Treat resistance to wear as a useful property, not a reason to ignore the product’s care instructions.

Pay particular attention to edges, corners and areas around sink or hob openings. If you notice a change, photograph it and contact your supplier or installer with the product details.

Care habits for a busy kitchen

  • Put hot cookware on a suitable trivet or heat pad.
  • Prepare food on a separate chopping board.
  • Clean using the method approved for your particular surface and finish.
  • Remove spills promptly, then rinse and dry as directed.
  • Check the manufacturer’s guidance before trying a stain remover or unfamiliar cleaner.

For Silestone, Cosentino recommends regular cleaning with water and mild soap, avoiding harsh chemicals and keeping hot objects off the surface. For Caesarstone, the care guide also distinguishes polished, honed and textured finishes. Follow the instructions for your chosen product rather than assuming one cleaning routine suits every surface.

What to check as a worktop gets older

Look at the surface finish, edges, joints and seals as part of normal kitchen upkeep. Record any chips, discolouration, movement or persistent marks. A fabricator can assess the cause and discuss whether a suitable repair is possible.

Do not attempt to re-polish a finished quartz surface yourself. Caesarstone says its surfaces arrive with the correct finish and advises contacting the fabricator for repair questions. The right approach depends on the product and the condition of the worktop.

Plan the complete installation

Discuss your cabinet layout, support requirements, sink and hob positions, overhangs and joint locations before manufacture. These details belong in the design and installation conversation, alongside colour and finish. Our worktop process explains how a Rock & Co project moves from planning to templating and fitting.

Compare warranties and quotations carefully

Check who provides the warranty, whether registration is required and which exclusions apply. Confirm the exact product rather than relying on a general warranty statement about quartz. Ask for a quotation that explains the chosen surface and the work included in your project.

For an existing worktop, send photographs and any product records when asking for advice. For a new kitchen, share your plans and preferred material with our team.
