Monaco Carrera quartz worktops in a Cambridge kitchen

A traditional kitchen with a contemporary finish

This Cambridge project pairs traditionally styled handmade cabinetry with modern accessories. Light colours create a bright setting, while the open-plan layout connects the kitchen with the surrounding living space.

The worktops were described as Monaco Carrera in the original project record. Their off-white appearance and marble-effect pattern complement the cabinetry without competing with the kitchen’s stronger features. For the current surface range, see Monaco Carrara quartz worktops and confirm the available colour and specification with our team.

An island for preparation, storage and seating

The central island provides additional worktop space and storage, with a position for the microwave. An overhang creates room for bar stools, giving the island a role as both a working surface and a place to sit.

When planning a similar layout, discuss seating clearance, worktop support and the position of joins with your kitchen designer and fabricator. The right dimensions depend on the cabinets, chosen material and how you intend to use the space. Our templating and installation process explains the stages to agree before fitting.

A dark range cooker adds contrast

A black range cooker and prominent hood provide a focal point against the lighter cabinets and worktops. This contrast gives the room depth while keeping the main palette simple.

For your own project, share appliance details before the worktop specification is finalised. Cut-outs, adjacent surfaces and any splashback must suit the appliance manufacturer’s installation requirements and the selected surface.
