The people behind your worktop

Craftsmanship, with
care in every detail.

Rock & Co is a specialist stone worktop business based in Stevenage. We bring material advice, templating, manufacture and installation together, helping homeowners turn their kitchen plans into a finished space.

Our worktops are made in our own workshop. Digital measuring and CNC machinery support the practical skills of our team, from planning each cut to finishing the edges and fitting the surface in your home.

Our family. Our craft. Your home.

A family collaboration,
with stone at its heart.

Behind Rock & Co is a family collaboration: Pat, affectionately known as “The Daddy”, and his sons Patrick, the designer, and Anthony, our director, alongside the wider family. Our story brings these people together around a shared interest in making beautiful worktops and helping customers create homes they enjoy living in.

A worktop may be the finished product, but people give the business its character. There are the people imagining what a kitchen could become, the people working through the practical details and the people turning those decisions into a finished surface. The family connection is part of that story, alongside the skills and commitment of the wider Rock & Co team.

For us, the appeal of working together is the opportunity to bring different perspectives to the same project. A design idea needs to look right, but it also needs to make sense in the room. A carefully made surface needs to be understood, specified and fitted with equal care. Each part deserves attention.

That is the spirit we want customers to experience: a business where the design conversation and the making belong together. You should have room to ask questions, explore alternatives and explain what matters to you, whether that is a dramatic island, a quieter backdrop or a practical kitchen for a busy household.

Our family story also gives us a personal reason to care about the name on the finished work. Rock & Co is the name customers encounter when they first get in touch, when they visit the showroom and when their worktops arrive. Our aim is to make those stages feel like parts of one considered service.

We are proud to share the family behind the business. Just as importantly, we recognise the contribution of the people who work alongside us. The finished kitchen is the result of collaboration, from the first discussion through to the final fitting.

The chapters behind us

Hertford. Cambridge.
Stevenage today.

Our history includes factories in Hertford and Cambridge. Both places belong in the Rock & Co story: they are part of our past, and part of the background to the business you see today. We value that history and the work associated with those earlier chapters.

A workshop is more than an address. It is a place where materials become finished pieces, where plans meet the practical demands of cutting and handling stone, and where the details of individual projects receive attention. Remembering our former factories means recognising the making that has always been central to our work.

Today, our showroom and manufacturing base are in Stevenage. This is where we welcome customers who want to explore surfaces in person and discuss their plans. It brings the choice of materials and the practical work of creating worktops into the same current chapter of the business.

Hertford and Cambridge are historical factory locations. All current showroom visits and appointments take place at Stevenage. If you remember us from an earlier location, we would be pleased to welcome you to our current home.

Why we do what we do

Made for the life
around the kitchen.

A kitchen can hold a surprising amount of a household’s life. It is where the day begins, where meals are prepared and where people often gather before moving anywhere else. The worktop is part of those everyday moments: the place for ingredients, conversation, a cup of tea or the next set of plans.

That is why we think choosing a worktop deserves more than a quick decision from a small photograph. Its colour affects the room. Its pattern can become a focal point. The edge, the proportions and the relationship with the cabinets all contribute to how the kitchen feels.

We want to help you see those choices together. Some customers arrive with a clear vision; others have a cabinet sample and a few possibilities. Both are good places to begin. Our role is to help turn your preferences into a specification that can be measured, manufactured and installed.

The most satisfying result is a surface that belongs in your home: one that suits your taste, works with your layout and feels considered alongside the other materials you have chosen.

Design meets making

A beautiful idea.
A practical plan.

Design and manufacture need to stay connected. A striking piece of stone is only one part of a finished worktop. The layout, dimensions, access, cut-outs and edge details all need to be considered before the surface can take its place in a kitchen.

This is where the collaboration behind Rock & Co becomes especially relevant. The design conversation establishes the look you want to achieve. The practical stages establish how that look can be realised in your space. Questions about an island, a sink, a hob or a join are part of the same project.

Digital measuring and CNC machinery support our workshop’s work, but equipment is only part of the process. The team still needs to understand the specification, consider the material and pay attention to finishing. Technology and practical skill work together.

We encourage customers to discuss the details early. A drawing, cabinet information or a conversation about how you use your kitchen can help us understand your priorities. The more clearly a project is understood, the more useful the advice can be.

Working together

Your project is
a conversation.

Choosing a worktop can mean balancing several decisions at once. You may be comparing different materials, working within a budget, coordinating with a kitchen supplier or deciding which finish best suits the light in your room. We want the conversation to give you a clearer way forward.

Start with what you know. Show us the kitchen plan if you have one, tell us which colours catch your eye and explain any practical priorities. If you are still exploring, bring your questions. You do not need to arrive with every detail settled.

We also understand that a worktop forms part of a wider project. Cabinets, appliances and other works all affect the sequence. Templating and manufacture need to be planned around the kitchen and the agreed specification, so discussing readiness and the next steps is an important part of the service.

Our aim is to make the decisions understandable: what you are choosing, what information is needed and what happens next. Clear conversations help everyone involved work towards the same finished result.
