Choosing an edge profile for granite or quartz
The edge profile is the shape finished along the exposed edge of your worktop. It changes the appearance and feel of a granite worktop or quartz worktop, alongside the colour, thickness and cabinet design.
The diagram below illustrates several profile shapes. Availability depends on the selected material, slab thickness, fabrication requirements and the details of your project. Ask us to confirm the available options for your chosen surface before ordering.
Common edge shapes
- Eased: a largely straight edge with the sharp corners softened.
- Bevel or chamfer: an angled cut along the edge. A double chamfer has angled cuts at both the top and bottom; confirm the exact detail rather than relying on a profile name alone.
- Bullnose and half bullnose: rounded shapes with different amounts of curvature.
- Ogee: a decorative curved profile, often chosen for a traditional appearance.

Is an ogee the same as a waterfall edge?
No. An ogee describes the curved shape of the exposed edge. A waterfall end usually means a panel of worktop material continuing vertically down the side of an island or cabinet. The edge profile and a waterfall end are separate design choices.
