Granite and Quartz Kitchen Worktop FAQ’s
What is a One Day Fitting Service?
A one day fitting service is where the fitters come to fit the worktops with the stone on board. We ensure the stone is oversized. The customers work surfaces are templated and then the stone is manufactured on site with our on site machinery. This enables not only a quick turnaround but can also offer accuracy for measurements given and also allows the customer to input the design on the worktop.
What is a template?
A template is an exact replica of the required worktops. Accurate measurements of the kitchen units,cut outs for hobs and sinks and the size of overhang required. This is then used to manufacture the granite worktops ensuring a precise and accurate cutting of the granite for a perfect work surface installation.
How exact do my measurements have to be and how much do you oversize my measurements?
Measurements do not have to be exact however we do require a kitchen plan to confirm measurements. If you are having a one day fitting service, we do oversize the measurements then manufacture on site. The width of the worktop are also manufactured in this way. If you are opting for a template and fit service we come and measure the worktops ourselves and then manufacture at our manufacturing yard.
What must I have on-site on day of fitting/templating?
Before the day of template/fitting please ensure that all kitchen cabinets are fitted and have sufficient braces in order to take the weight if the granite.
If you are having a template surface please ensure that all areas are free for us to work on. This includes the removal of all gadgets and other items normally on your work surface. Please do not re-position the kitchen cabinets after template and if you do please let us know and another template will be carried out. If we are not made aware of any adjustments/changes then there may be a risk that the work surfaces will not fit and we cannot be liable for this and full payment will be expected. (Please note that there will additional templating costs will be charged.)
Sinks, taps and hobs should be on site on the day of templating and readily available for the fitters.
if you are just having re-placement work surfaces please make sure that the existing work surfaces are removed prior to the day of fitting. Rock & Co. can arrange for existing work surfaces to be removed but there will be a charge for this.
If you have the template service we do not need to know exact measurements, but if we find when we come to template that the measurements and your requirements change from the original quote additional charges may be applied.
How do I obtain a quotation?
To obtain a quote you can email/ fax over a plan and measurements, phone through your measurements or come to our showroom.
If you are emailing/faxing through a quotation request we aim to get back to you with a quote the very same day.
Can I see the stone beforehand?
Yes, we have a showroom in Hertford Town Centre and we are open 6 days a week. We have samples in our showroom but we can appreciate that not all of our customers are local so we are more than happy to send samples out to our customers that very day first class.
How do I place an order?
If you are happy with the quote and wish to place an order, please contact a member of staff and they will be happy to assist you.
A deposit of £500 is required when placing your order. This will reserve your stone and enable you to book a fitting/template date. The balance is the required on completion of the work. The deposit / balance can be paid by debit /credit card. If you choose to pay by a credit card a 2% surcharge will be applied. CHEQUES ARE NOT ACCEPTED.
Are my Worktops Sealed?
Yes, all worktops are sealed in our workshop prior to fitting. We then recommend that you re-seal your worktops once a year.

What is the thickness of the stone?
The standard thickness of the worktops is 30mm. Different thicknesses can be supplied and installed with a +or – of 2mm . It always depends on individual kitchens, the furniture carcasses below the worktops, the depth of the units and the overhangs over the doors.
Do you have Care Kits?
Yes, care kits are available for Granite and Quartz surfaces for £30.
